Parents and guardians looking for employment or opportunities to learn a new skill for a career should begin their search with Detroit at Work, which provides thousands of job and training opportunities to Detroiters every year.
Detroit at Work
Detroit at Work has three Career Centers throughout the city that help match qualified workers to local employers and training programs.
Detroit at Work is operated on behalf of the Mayor’s Workforce Development Board by Detroit Employment Solutions Corporation (DESC), a Michigan Works! Agency and proud partner of the American Job Center network.

Adult education
DPSCD offers free classes for adult learners, giving them the opportunity to upgrade their academic skills, complete high school, obtain a General Educational Development (GED) diploma and access other career, education and counseling resources. Available programs include High School Completion (HSC), General Educational Development (GED), Adult Basic Education/Pre-High School Equivalency (ABE/Pre-HSE), and English as a Second Language (ESL).
