Located on a beautiful, 19-acre campus on Detroit’s east side, the Cornerstone Jefferson-Douglass Academy opened as a Cornerstone Charter School in 2017. This school offers an excellent education to students in grades K-8 in a clean, safe, nurturing environment. Highly-qualified, passionate faculty and staff create lessons that are challenging, relevant, and meaningful, while caring for the whole child. Cornerstone utilizes technology to ensure that students are competitive and have many opportunities to master material at their own pace. Building good character is infused in everything we do. We have developed an emergency operations plan for school buildings and trained all staff in school safety. All visitors to Cornerstone are scanned through an ID and real-time background check system. We have added additional security personnel for home athletic events and all schools use restorative justice practices.
