Mario Lemons is a native of Detroit, and was educated in the Detroit Public Schools system. He graduated from MSU, and holds a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. Mario is passionate about empowering young people to be their best selves.

Curriculum

Our classroom instruction focuses on developing and nurturing the the whole child. We do this through a commitment to mastery of knowledge and skills, character development, and high-quality student work. We are a proud EL Education network school.

Is there a parent advisory council?

The DAA Family Board facilitates Community Meetings, and holds board meetings to coordinate the efforts of families toward our goals and vision for students. This group meets at least once per quarter to plan activities, outreach, and fundraisers.

School Safety Culture

We believe that student safety and a sense of belonging is of utmost importance. We use strong culture-building and restorative practices, and behavior tiers to help address off-culture behavior. We also have high-tech security surveillance in place.
