Principal Wills joined the DLA team in 2017 with experiences in both charter and traditional public school. With a background in social work, Principal Wills' work at DLA has evolved as her campus has grown to include the middle school grades. In her current role as PreK – 8 Principal, she focuses on the academy’s student success, staff retention and growth, and community outreach. Principal Wills has become a pillar in the community as the Community Association’s and Brightmore Education Action Team’s Recording Secretary. She works closely with her staff, students, families, community members, and stakeholders to advance the academy.

School Safety Culture
DLA Academy focuses on the development of a strong school culture through the use of restorative practices and mindfulness strategies that teach students self-regulation and problem solving skills. The school’s Student Support Team (Behavior Interventionists, Social Worker, Mindfulness Coordinator) work alongside teachers and students to implement a robust PBIS system with these focus areas at the center.
