Academics & Activities
We are grounded in a culturally responsive and restorative education which serves as a throughline in our curricula. We use Common Core with EngageNY (ELA), Eureka (Math), Next Generation (Science), and the C3 Framework (Social Studies).
UPAD MS has a variety of activities for students including First Connect (an after-school art program with CCS), Academic Games, Student Council, Mustang Fusion Dance, and various athletic teams and after-school clubs.
|Leadership and Mentoring|
UPAD MS is grounded in art and design but open to artists of all abilities who develop their foundational skills each year. To support students academically, we also have Math and Reading interventionists along with weekly tutoring and homework help.
Is there a parent advisory council?Yes
We value the support of our students and their families. Our Families as Partners group meets every month with our staff to discuss successes and challenges and to plan upcoming student activities and events,
School Safety Culture
Our school approaches culture through developmental appropriateness and restorative practices. We have mentors on each floor and a restorative practitioner to help students process community harms and always partner with students’ families.
